Outside of the likes of Venom, Kraven, and Lizard seen in the trailers, Insomniac has kept many more cards hidden up its sleeve. I won’t even hint at any of these except to say that Spider-Man 2 opens with a bang, offering up a sense of scale not previously seen in the series. It’s an adrenaline-fuelled reintroduction to the series that tests how well you remember the combat, as well as providing a few new tricks.
There will be no shortage of games to play in January, but don’t count on any spectacular launches. In a word, yes, but the real hero of this video game is a story that’s nothing short of amazing. The district of Queens has also been added to the game, expanding the map. Since it’s located on the eastern side of East River, the river itself has also become important, as the player will get to chase down bandits escaping along it by boats.

Spider-Man 2 on PC has already received updates meant to address some of its more serious technical problems, but I am still experiencing crashes. All kinds of PC gamers with all kinds of rigs have reported crashing issues with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, so it’s clear that more work needs to be done to make the game more stable. Once those updates come through, Spider-Man 2 should be an excellent new addition to Sony’s lineup of PC games, as the core experience is still a ton of fun when it works. Granted, they’re only rated for 30fps at a lowly 720p, and you’ll still need to find a honking 140GB of SSD space, but the basic GPU and CPU requirements aren’t too lofty at all.
Traversal too, is more of the same, but that’s hard to knock when swinging around the city as Spider-Man feels this damned good. Although the game’s map is now expanded beyond Manhattan isle to include truncated facsimiles of the outer boroughs (WTF is “Downtown Queens?”), zipping around at breakneck speed is more exhilarating than ever. Utilizing the PS5’s internal solid-state drive, players can seamlessly fast travel at the touch of the map once they’ve spent enough time in each neighborhood.
However, these moments in the game are excellent for character building and help build on the amazing character development shown throughout the game. Following these brief moments of downtime, Black Cat gives Peter and Harry a lead to a nearby Hunter base and the two of them go to take them down. The next few missions of the game are quite uneventful from a larger standpoint, as Peter Parker loses his professor job and returns to photography. These segments show off basic game mechanics like gadgets and suit customization, as the story takes a break before the excitement picks up later in the first act. By the middle of the first act, players will be reunited with Peter Parker’s best friend, Harry Osborn, the son of Norman Osborn, an iconic Spider-Man character who later becomes the Green Goblin. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s seems to retain most of the gameplay it had from the previous games based on the gameplay footage that they revealed.
A Flawed Port Of A Flawed Sequel
In addition to features like ray tracing and ultrawide monitor support, the PC version will also allow integrated use of the PS5’s DualSense controllers. Given that Insomniac’s Spider-Man games are among the few that have truly made use of the PS5’s advanced haptics, you’ll definitely want to use one of those controllers if you’re able to. Events Between The Games
This Spider Bot, Spider-Armor MK III, is found in the Northern end of Upper East Side. On the map screen, look for the El Train tracks cut through the middle of the district from North to South. On the Eastern side of it is a (relatively) small building that’s on an angle compared to the buildings around it. Head for the North-Eastern corner of the plaza and look for the building wall with a vertical mural, depicting a cat on the bottom, a book in the middle, and a woman at the top.
While it feels a bit poorly paced compared to Marvel’s Spider-Man, the game is still an amazing experience filled with some of the most enjoyable missions in any open-world game ever. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is an action-packed, open-world superhero game that expands on its predecessor with improved gameplay, fluid combat mechanics, and dynamic web-swinging across New York City. Critics highlight its captivating story, compelling characters, and impressive visuals.

The movement is smooth and the hits are crunching, like some sort of peanut butter hybrid that every one of your foes is allergic to. Every bone in their body may be broken and every organ punctured, but of course, they’ll somehow live to commit crimes again.
During his final battle with Spider-Man, Harry temporarily gains lucidity and urges his friend to destroy Venom, at the cost of his own health. Peter reluctantly complies with Harry’s wishes, destroying the symbiote, with Harry rendered comatose from the ordeal. Of all the enemies that Peter Parker and Miles Morales face in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, few are as terrifying and relentless as Venom.
Venom also appeared for a brief moment in the reveal trailer, and again in the more recent Story Trailer too. And while we know Peter will be able to wield Symbiote powers at some stage, there’s no telling if Venom himself will eventually join forces with the spidey duo, perhaps uniting against the common threat of Kraven The Hunter. Obviously, it wouldn’t be a Spider-Man game without the man of the hour, Peter Parker. Players will reprise the role of Spidey in Insomniac’s sequel, stepping into the shoes of the friendly neighborhood hero – though he won’t be alone. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was first revealed during Sony’s 2021 PlayStation Showcase event.
