This isn’t news to players that have been around since the beginning — but for everyone picking up a PS5, you just might want to pick this particular class. For several years now, it has been a mystery what Bluepoint Games, the studio behind several remakes including Shadow of the Colossus, is working on. However, all speculation was put to rest when Sony unveiled at last June’s PlayStation 5 event that Bluepoint Games is developing a remake of the 2009 classic title, Demon’s Souls. How do you make peace between a game whose legend was forged through its downbeat double-A mysteries, through its obliqueness – and bleakness – and this, a thumping great triple-A powerhouse of a thing?

The Shrine of Storms has relatively easy boss fights — if you know the tricks. After completing the first section of [1-1] Boletarian Palace and defeating the Phalanx boss, you’ll be able to explore any of the four additional archstones. More of an emphasis is placed on deliberately studying your opponents and playing defensively until the perfect time for attack presents itself. While magic users and some melee builds will be able to play a bit more aggressively, Demon’s Souls just isn’t designed to support that more active style of combat that has defined modern Soulslike games. Fans were initially worried to find out that the Demon’s Souls remake would include some new weapons and items for the game in the form of pre-order DLC bonuses. The new weapons included were the Ritual Blade and Reaper Scythe and the shield was called the Hoplite shield.
There are no “bonfires” near fog gates or checkpoints added, or anything of that nature. The Remake is actually closer to a Remaster than a Remake, and probably would be called one if the graphics were not completely overhauled. And while that should be mostly good news to Demon’s Souls veterans out there looking to pick this up and play with the noobies, there were some missed opportunities here that I will mention. The difference in Demon’s Souls is that there is much more of a focus on the worlds themselves, and less of a focus on the Bosses. The locations of Demon’s Souls have never looked so good, realized in full 4k resolutions at 60 FPS, and you have never played a Souls game on console that looked so breathtaking.
